About:
Bethany is an artist and writer based in North Wales; there are various themes underpinning her creative process, absence, transience, light, transcendence, being. Time has been spent moving from creating seemingly abstract objects to working with canvas, exploring how subtle aesthetic changes and material inquiry can allude to the spiritual and the desire to define it. Testing objects, materials and their placement is fundamental to the questioning of our existence and an inquiry into transience within such practice. Previous works and writings have explored the idea of absence being shamanic, both literally and within the work, placing Bethany's work in a liminal space between being tranquil and being melancholic; the work is deeply contemplative and subtly spiritually driven.
